It’s Rocky Colavito’s Birthday!
Gotta love the Rock.
Also should note that the Twins swept a doubleheader yesterday. How often does that happen? This may be the first time ever.
Over the [last place] White Sox. And how did they do it? The simple formula of pitching and power. Morneau: 2 home runs, including a grand slam. Arcia: two home runs, including the game winner in the 10th inning of game two. Colabello? Home run. Willingham? Home run. Herrmann? Home run. Duensing? Wins both games. How often does that happen? Okay, so he only pitched 1/3 of an inning in game one. Burton, Fien, and Perkins each pitch a scoreless inning of relief as well. In game two? Hendriks goes six, gives up a couple of runs. Thielbar, Roenicke, Duensing, and Perkins close it out. The bullpen has been pretty solid this season.
Update number two: that’s the first time ever a Twins pitcher has won two games in one day. Waaaaaaaaay back in franchise history, when we were the Senators, there was another pitcher who did it. Name of Johnson. Walter Johnson.
